Eating a healthy diet is important for general well-being, but it can also significantly reduce the risk of dementia later in life. 


Foods and diets that are shown to reduce the risk of dementia

  • Leafy greens 
  • Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries
  • Dark chocolate 
  • Fish 
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Mediterranean diet (focuses on fish, fruits, vegetables and nuts)
  • The antioxidants in fruits and vegetables may reduce symptoms of dementia, while omega-3 fatty acids in fish support brain health. Vitamins and minerals found in nuts, seeds and dark leafy greens are linked to brain health.
